The biggest supply problem for gasoline right now is the re-formulated gas that the EPA has poisioned out waterways with recently. MTBE and other poisions are required in most major metropolitan areas gasoline and there aren't enough refinories for that either.Don't forget that the reformulated gas also doesn't help the smog problem in areas that get lots of sun like - oh, let's see - DALLAS, HOUSTON, LA, ATLANTA. Any of you folks notice that you have MORE non-compliant days now that we have the EPA gas? I sure did. I also noticed a 10% drop in performance, 15% drop in fuel economy, and a 10% increase in price when the switch was made. If we switched back to normal gas and required a turnup with safety inspections, the smog levels would drop, prices would drop, fuel economy would jump. Write a snail mail letter to your congressman and senator every week telling them what you think and reminding them that you vote. It might make a difference. Emails won't work, phone calls won't work. :
: The last 8-12 years of kow-towing to the Enviromentalist - Eco-Terrorists - Fruitcake - nutballs. There have not been enough (any?) new refineries built in the last decade while the number of vehicles has risen dramatically. Supply and demand means prices will go up. Also, it doesn't help any that the afor-mentioned nutballs got laws passed to restrict any new drilling so we don't have to depend on our buddies in the Arabian peninsula for our fuel. : Oh, and by the way, lets not even consider using nuclear power so we don't have to burn shit to make electricity!! : How the FUCK do the eco-nuts expect to power their precious little battery cars? Windmills? Oh, wait, it seems the stupid birds are flying into the windmills in CA and so they turned the windmills off too!!! Stupid fucking communists. : I say let them sweat in the dark this summer until they elect some people that will think before they pass stupid laws that almost REQUIRE the electric company to raise rates and not produce any more electricity. : (jeez, did I just go off - or what....) : : and they reported that Bush wouldn't do anything about it anytime soon.
